Calvin Lipetzky is in his fourth year with the Brandon Valley School district. Originally from Sioux Falls, SD, he graduated from South Dakota State University with a degree in Music Education. Prior to his work in Brandon Valley, Mr. Lipetzky has worked with numerous programs around the midwest including O'Gorman, Washington, Brookings, Rosemount, Scott Highlands, West Central, Lennox, Irondale, and Eagan. In addition to his work at the middle school, Mr. Lipetzky is the director of percussion at the high school. He leads the Fall and Winter Marching Percussion ensembles.
In service to music education in the state of South Dakota, Mr. Lipetzky serves on the SDMEA Board as the Band Co-Chair.
As performer, Mr. Lipetzky received 1st place in the 2015 MPA Solo and Ensemble competition playing marimba. He marched several years with River City Rhythm indoor, culminating in a bronze medal finish at WGI World Finals in 2016. He is currently a performing member of the Sioux Empire Brass and M4 Marimba Quartet.
Mr. Lipetzky enjoys spending his summers teaching Drum and Bugle Corps, running, reading, practicing, and traveling.
